Napkins and Modge Podge

Hi-dee-ho everyone :)

Nicole here with some very cold fingers sitting in my cold house wishing that some magic fairy would come light my fire so I can warm up.........I don't think they are coming though, so it looks like I'm going to have to do it!!!!!!!!! >:(

I have wanted to try the Mod Podge and the napkins thing for ages but had just never got there. I knew how to do it......I just hadn't done it.

So one day when I was hunting through my stash for something else, I came across some really cool napkins that I had bought from some cheap shop some where. So I thought I would give this technique a go. So while looking around for something to do it on I found a box from Twiddleybitz (I think) that I thought would look really cool all decorated up with these napkins.

I used matte Mod Podge because I didn't want a glossy finish when I had finished the box.

So here is what I did:-
*Using just the top layer of the napkin and tear it into smallish pieces. Not too small or they will be a pain to try and stick down.
*Using a paint brush, cover part of the box with Mod Podge and then stick down a piece of your torn napkin over where you have just applied the Mod Podge.
*Using your paint brush, paint some of the Mod Podge over the piece of torn napkin that you have just glued down.
*Repeat this process until you have all your surfaces covered with the torn napkin and Mod Podge. You might have to paint over your finished surfaces with another layer of Mod Podge once you have finished, just to seal it and to make sure that all your pieces of torn napkin are stuck down properly.
*Set aside to dry. I left mine overnight so I knew it was dry.
*The next day I took one of my mini files and filed around all the edges to neaten up any pieces of torn napkin that were hanging over the edge of my box.
*Then I decorated it up using some Twiddleybitz hinges painted with crackle paint, some leaves, bling, ribbon, a butterfly and flowers cut from Grungeboard and tulle. For the feet I used little draw handles that I painted. The handles for the drawers are sewing machine cotton spools with a button glued to the front and some ribbon tied around the spools.
And so here is my creation.....

Thank you for giving me a little of your time today and I hope you might like to try this technique one day....it really is simple but very effective.

Dimensional Door Card tutorial

Hello friends! Leah here today from Beeing Creative and Feeling Cherry. I have a fun dimensional card to share with you today. And bear with me, this photo might not be too exciting but wait until you get to the end! LOL!
I started with a die cut door. You can make something yourself and cut "window's out but really this will be so much easier with some kind of electronic die cut machine so it does the work for you. This photo shows the card base (behind) the front panel with all the detail cuts and also the other layers (green).

On the front panel I cut out the inside piece to fit the green layer. Added all the dimension foam.

And then adhered the solid piece which will be flat onto the card base, but was easier to line up by putting it here instead of on the card base.

And a dimensional view of the 2 panels put together.

I wanted to add something special to this so I will add a wreathe. Start with cutting a circle to fit the size you would like. Then punch a ton of leaves in at least 3 to 5 colors. The more variation, the better it looks. Run a circle of glue, a small line at a time and start laying the branches together.

And here is the finished card. I added a bow to the top to "hold" the wreathe on the door and added a hand made sign.

And a close up of the wreathe. I used a small piece of twine and cut 2 pieces. One adhered to the inside panel and one adhered to the wreathe itself. That and it looks more dimensional. Then I layered pearls (or eggs) into the nest, 2 large against the back panel and a smaller sitting on top. Last small detail is adding some Glossy Accents or clear dimensional glue to the door knob.

This ended up such a warm and inviting card, perfect to give my sister when she moves into her new home!
Thank you so much for taking a look and please let me know if you have any further questions!

Bo Bunny Gabrielle....mmmmmmmmmm

I remember reading that Bo Bunny had created  one of their new paper lines  after one of their designers Gabrielle Pollacco.  They found out things like her favourite colours, favourite  places to visit, names of her pets etc...and created this beautiful line.  I must admit I fell in love with it - very me  - suitable for vintage  stuff but  not just vintage!!

Here is one of the pages I  created....

And of course my  take on the May sketch was also done using Gabrielle....

Ness has a fabulous  selection of Bo bunny ranges in at the moment so  make sure you check them out HERE

IMAGE TRANSFER TUTORIAL

IMAGE TRANSFER TUTORIAL
You will need contact, a photo printed using a Laser printer, something to smooth out air bubbles.

Place the photo face down on the contact smooth out the air bubbles then cut out the photo.

Now place in some water and leave to soak till you can rub the back and are left with a clear image
Once your image is ready you can place it on a background.
I have used a Glimmer Mist technique for my back ground.
Place it onto the background and smooth out any wrinkles and air bubbles
Cut it out and it is ready to use.
I have made a card using mine.
Hope you enjoyed Ann xx

Book shaped shadow box tutorial

Book shaped shadow box tutorial
This easy and fabulous project can be done with a solid cardstock 30*30 cm. piece and some scrap papers that left from your previous projects. So here it is- step by step easy papercrafting project

Step 1

All you need now is 4 12*12 pieces of cream heavy weight solid cardstock, a metal ruler and a bone folder. If you have any scoring device- use it, but you really don't need it for the scoring of this project
Score all 4 cardstock using your metal standard ruler for your scoring size- it's just the best measurement ever for this project

Step 2

Also 3 scored paper were enough for this single project, if your use four of them, you will have products for another small shadow box with absolutely no leftovers
Cut 2 folded cardstock to 8.5'' size and 2 others to 5.5'' size
Step 3

Insert the short piece inside the long one as shown, use your Glue arts adhesive squares to adhere the first corner- do it from the front and the back side of your project. Now insert the second long piece into the free corner of your short one, adhere it and add the last one. Be sure to secure the corners with some more glue squares. Don't glue anything inside. Actually your shadow box is done
Now for the rest on the project

Step 4

Cut the back of your box from some fancy and glittery patterned cardstock, I used GCD Studios Melody Ross Post card one gorgeous paper, cut it to your box size (8.5*5.5'') and before you do your final cut check it from the front to be sure you see the piece you wanted to be shown. Adhere your fancy paper piece on the back of your frame using Glue Arts Glider pro or any other doublesided strong adhesive
Step 5

Using your ruler again ,cut 4 strips from your glittered cardstock for the front cover
Using your Glue glider adhere all 4 strips as show, don't glue the edges yet, as we need to trim them to triangle shape. Trim your edges as shown and now add more glue to finish the frame
Step 6

This is a time for you to be creative: make art and experiments, don't be afraid , it's your art, not mine
But if your want to do my kind of embellishments- here are the next few steps for this box
Cut some flower from your previous GCD cardstock and glue them over your frame as shown. Cut some butterflies form another piece of GCD cardstock and adhere them randomly over your frame. I used the same adhesive squares as on my first steps
Add Pink Paislee transparent card inside your box-glue it with adhesive squares inside the second fold- not too close to the back paper
Add some vintage die cuts- I used K&CO pieces inside the next fold and over the cover

Step 7

Adhere the ribbons , pleat the lower lace as shown and glue the second
lace layer on the top. Make a fancy bow and glue is over the cover with adhesive squares, add a vintage angel button with the same adhesive and finally add some crystal swirls all around the cover
As my finish touch I added the micro mini buttons over the butterflies and inked the outside " pages" of my book with Tea Dye distress ink
Enjoy your frame- you can also put some photo inside if you wish so

Supply list
Four cream cardstock 12*12'' pieces
GCD Studios Post card 1 glittered paper, GCD Studios butterfly paper
Pink Paislee transparent card – Sweetness collection
Webster pages and Prima lace
Prima crystal swirls
K&Co vintage die cuts
Dress it up buttons
Glue Arts- Glue glider PRO, adhesive squares and ribbon adhesive
